Q. If cosA+ cos2A =1, then what is 2(sin2A + sin4A) equal to?
a) 4
b) 2
c) 1
d) 1/2

Answer: b

cosA+ cos2A =1 ⇒ cosA = 1-cos2A  ⇒ cosA = sin2A.
Here cosA = sin2A. Substituting cosA=sin2A in the given equation we get,
2(sin2A + sin4A) = 2.
